Eco-toilet Constructed by SAFE

SAFE precondition for assisting sanitation projects is to insist that every family in the village get involved, to ensure that diseases not spread by unclean practices. So first challenge was to help the inhabitants of the East Kolkata Wetland area realize that there was plenty they could do themselves to bring about the necessary changes in their community. SAFE has installed its first eco-toilet based on WWF model at Natar bheri, a major fishpond of EKW. SAFE with the involvement of the community people plans to set up more such toilets for men and women in other bheris, where the survey revealed that there is no adequate sanitation facility.
